유망사유 : 이집트는 보안상의 이유로 최근까지 GPS 장비사용을 금지했으나, 올해 4월 대통령령으로 GPS 장비 사용금지를 해제함에 따라 자동차 내비게이션, GPS 시스템을 사용하는 핸드폰 등 관련 제품의 수요가 폭증할 것으로 전망됨. 전 세계에서 GPS 장비 사용이 금지된 나라는 이집트, 시리아, 북한 등 3개국이었으나 이번 조치로 이집트내 GPS 관련 비즈니스가 활성화될 것으로 전망

 

1. GPS 장비 사용금지 해제

 

□ GPS 장비 수출입 가능할듯

 

 ○ 이집트는 시리아, 북한 등과 함께 지구상에서 GPS 사용이 금지된 3개국 중 하나였으나 올해 4월 관련 금지조치가 전격 해제됨.

 

 ○ GPS 장비 사용 승인에 따라 GPS 관련 서비스가 본격적으로 보급되고 자동차 내비게이션, 휴대폰 등 관련 제품의 수요가 크게 늘어날 것으로 전망함.

 

 ○ GPS 장비가 탑재된 자동차 및 휴대폰의 수입이 가능해질 것이며, 관련 제품의 이집트 내 제조 및 수출도 가능할 것으로 전망함.

 

 ○ 그러나 NTRA(National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority)의 발표에 따르면, 관련 제품에 대한 관리 감독은 지속될 것임. GPS장비가 탑재된 휴대폰 및 컴퓨터의 제조 및 수출은 NTRA에서 장비 형식에 대한 승인을 받아야 하며, GPS와 유사한 시스템인 AVL(Automatic Vehicle Location)의 경우도 개별적인 승인 절차가 필요한 것으로 발표됨.

 

 ○ GPS 장비는 mapping과 tracking의 두 가지로 분류할 수 있는데, 이중 mapping은 자동차, 휴대폰 등에 사용될 수 있도록 승인됐으나 tracking 관련 장비는 보안상의 이유로 이번 해제 조치에서 누락됨.

 

2. 초기 시장동향

 

□ 시장규모 및 전망

 

 ○ 그동안 관련제품의 사용이 금지됐었기 때문에 정확한 시장규모를 예측하기는 어려움. GPS 수입 승인을 획득한 수입상들은 향후 2~3년 내에 관련 시장규모가 연간 약 700만 달러에 이를 것으로 전망함.

 

□ 초기 경쟁동향

 

 ○ GPS 수입허가가 승인된 Armeda사의 Mr. Tamer El Ashry에 따르면, GPS 규제가 풀린지 얼마 되지 않아 아직 이집트로 수출된 제품은 없으나 중국, 홍콩, 한국, 핀란드 등지에서 많은 오퍼를 받고 있다고 함.

 

 ○ 특히 중국업체의 관심이 높고 중국제품이 가격경쟁력이 있어 이집트 시장에 최초로 진출하는 내비게이션 제품은 중국의 것이 될 것으로 수입상은 전망함.

□ 한국 차량용 내비게이션 제품 수출 증가 기대

 

 ○ 이집트 자동차 시장의 성장잠재력이 크고 한국 자동차의 시장점유율이 높아 한국의 차량용 내비게이션 제품 수출이 크게 증가할 것으로 기대됨.

 

 ○ 2008년 이집트 자동차 판매량은 전년대비 15.7% 증가한 26만6188대를 기록했으며, 2009년에도 세계불황에 따른 수요 감소에도 불구하고, 전년대비 1.1% 성장해 27만 대를 기록할 것으로 전망됨.

 

 ○ 이집트는 아랍국가 중 인구가 가장 많고 및 주변국 대비 자동차 소유비율이 낮아 향후 시장 성장 잠재력 높음.
