□ 바이오매스 에너지

○ 러시아 산림 자원은 상당한 경제적 잠재력을 지닌 바이오 매스 자원임. 러시아는 세계 산림 자원의 약 22%를 보유하고 있고, 매해 5억4200만m³를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 추산됨. 농업 자원부문에서도 대략 8억5000만 리터의 바이오자원이 매해 생산 가능할 것이라 추정됨.

○ 그동안 러시아의 바이오매스 에너지는 전력 가동의 목적으로 이용되지 않았음. 현재 러시아에는 바이오매스나 농업폐기물을 바이오 가스로 전환할 수 있는 공장이 100개 정도 있음. 그러나 거대 유기 폐기물을 혐기성 소화가스로 처리 가능한 대규모의 바이오가스는 없음. 현재 세계 여러 나라에서는 탄소 배출량을 줄이기 위해 노력하고, 많은 국가들은 러시아에 가스 수입 의존을 줄이기 위해 노력 중임. 세계 최대 자원 수출국인 러시아는 바이오매스, 바이오연료, 그리고 바이오가스를 새로운 대체 자원을 확보할 가능성이 높음.
