1. Current brands & Retail price

 

□ Local market for switches is in tough competition with a lot of brands that seize the market: Cisico, HP, D-Link, TP-Link, Linksys by Cisco, SMC, Netis, Asus, Toto Link, Linkpro, Planet, Hytech, Edge Core, Repotec.

 

 ○ However, for L2/L3 switch, which is called 'enterprise switch' (for it is used for companies that requires high security than normal switch), local dealers said that the most popular ones include products of Cisco, HP and Huawei. D-Link also has the range of 'enterprise switch but it is said that D-Link is not preferred(difficult to use) because it’s hardly compatible with other different switch systems. Besides, in their opinions, D-Link is known more about its normal kinds of switch rather than enterprise range. When we contacted to ask about the price, dealers used to advise us to use products of Cisco(not D-Link).

 

 ○ We picked up some switches specialized for enterprises range from some popular brands. Please note that they are all retail prices and the prices are ot inclusive the VAT of 10%.

  - Most of them are one-year gurantee(except for HP which has 3 years guaranteed).

2. Import-Export figures of HS Code 8517.62

 

 ○ Below are the statistic figures of 8517.62 in the three consecutive years 2009~2010~2011. It should be mentioned that the statistic figures on import-export merchandise are done rather slowly by the General Department of Vietnam Custom Office. For now, only statistic figures till the year 2011 is the most updated one. The figures for 2012 are expected to be released in late of 2013 or early 2014. Particularly for statistic figures of 2011, they are not detailing like that in 2009 and 2010. In other words, if the import-export value is too small, it will not be listed in the Custom Yearbook. That’s why there are many countries that had import-export value in 2009 and 2010 but in 2011, they are not listed.

 

 ○ Another point that should be also mentioned is that the HS Code 8517.62 includes many different equipment (i.e.machines for the reception, conversion and transmission or regeneration of voice, images or other data, including switching and routing apparatus) including switch. That means the figures do not indicate the import export of switch only. As mentioned in the preliminary search, the figures therefore, are provided just for more reference.
