1. Market overview
□ The Algerian market of home appliances is not monopolistic or oligopolistic, but close to the pure and perfect competition, companies have some leeway (possibility to act on the market) for fixing the prices. It is characterized by its dynamism and its volatility. It is very sensitive to price and marketing actions. It is influenced by technological innovation.
□ Models manufactured with high levels of integration are designed outside Algeria. All models are manufactured under Korean, Chinese and European license.
□ There are 8 manufacturers at least 4 of them have between 40~80% of the market. There are 4 companies that manufacture models designed in Europe, 2 from Korea, 1 Turkey and 1 in China.
□ Each company tries to do his best to gain more market share and thus sell its products. For this, they go to the innovation and technology transfer through partnerships with foreign companies in South Korea, the United States or China, or Japan.
□ At the opening of the market, many operators have made in this promising market but a lot of companies gave up because of the difficulties that impeded the functioning of their business, thus preventing them from evolving. Today, only a few brands have been able to evolve and develop.
□ Among the parts of the home appliance entering in the mounting assembly we noted:
○ A decline in imports of compressors / Manufacture of compressors in Algeria rose.
