1. COMPETITION TREND

 ○ Major supplying sources of Hydrogen Peroxide on the market: According to local dealers of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), in Vietnam, there is only one local manufacturer for Hydrogen Peroxide that located in the North of Vietnam - Ha Bac Hung Phat Chemical JSC producing industrial hydrogen peroxide (35% and 50%). The company is specialized in producing phosphate, fertilize and chemical. Two years ago, it began to produce hydrogen peroxide and soon gain a very large market share in the North market. The monthly production capacity is ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 tons. Due to the huge demand of domestic market, so far the company has provided for local companies and has not exported to foreign market.

 ○ Now, the company is the major supplier of many companies in nationwide, including Korean companies in Vietnam. According to Mr. Tuan, beside consuming hydrogen peroxide of Ha Bac Hung Phat, the local companies have also imported hydrogen peroxide from Korea, Thailand and China. Among these countries, the Korea and Thailand are more preferable, while Chinese products are not much preferred.

 ○ KOTRA HCM has contacted the representative of Vietnamchemtech JSC (http://www.vietnamchemtech.com.vn) – a company specialized in producing and distributing chemical. Mr. Minh said that there is almost no manufacturer for hydrogen peroxide in Hanoi and even in Northern. Most of hydrogen peroxide in Vietnam is imported from Thailand, Korea and China. So far, only Ha Bac Hung Phat Chemical JSC (HPCO) is the major supplier for local companies. The representative of the company said that, for hydrogen peroxide, the quality is not much different between manufacturers, so that the price is an important factor for local consumers.

2. IMPORT EXPORT FIGURES & TARIFF RATES

□ Import – Export Statistics

 ○ Below is the import – export statistic figures of the HS Code 6810.99 in the three consecutive years 2010-2011-2012.

 ○ It should be mentioned that the statistic figures on import-export merchandise are done rather slowly by the General Department of Vietnam Custom Office. For now, only statistic figures till the year 2012 are the most updated one. The figures for 2013 are expected to be released in the late of 2014 or middle of 2015.

 ○ Particularly for statistic figures of 2011 and 2012, they are not detailing like that in 2010. In other words, in many cases that the import-export value is too small, they were not being listed in the Custom Yearbook. That’s why there are many countries that had import-export value in 2010 but in 2011 and 2012, they are not listed. That is also one of the reasons why the figures in 2011 and 2012 are much different with that in 2010.
